Cory Aquino

Philippines' icon of democracy Cory Aquino passed away on Saturday. She had cancer of the colon.

Cory Aquino was a beloved and highly respected former President in the Philippines, and became the symbol of "People Power" that ultimately led to the downfall of the rule of former president Marcos.

Filipinos have been flocking to the streets and churches to pay their respect and say the final goodbye to Cory - popularly called "tita Cory" (aunt Cory). Thousands came to the streets yesterday as her coffin was transported to the Manila Cathedral - showering the caravan with yellow confetti, waving yellow ribbons, wearing yellow shirts - the symbol of Cory Aquino. We were among them.

Rest in Peace Cory Aquino.

... at 69 she leaves behind twin boys, only 2 years old. She could have been their grandmother - hey, she could actually have been their GREAT grandmother..

I'm usually a pretty open-minded person, but I can't see how it's OK to have babies when you're in your late 60s. Odds are you'll die from your kids way too soon. Sad...
