Cultural differences
Yesterday our household help came home with 3 four day old chickens.
They are now living in our laundry room waiting to become her dinner...

Wedding fever!
Congratulations!!!!
Halvor and Anne - February 3
Marie and Ronny - March 3
Mimi and Ned - March 3
Unfortunately I am only able to go to one of them, since Manila is not exactly very close to Norway or the US... But I really look forward to celebrating with Mimi and Ned in DC on March 3, can't wait!! And my thoughts will of course be with Marie and Ronny and all my friends in Norway celebrating their big day as well. I'm so sorry I'll miss it but please make sure to have at least one toast from me (and one FOR me as well? why not...)
Am in the Hong Kong airport right now, waiting for my flight to Chicago - NOT looking forward to that 15 hour flight. Especially since I came back from Pakistan to Manila yesterday afternoon, repacked, ate and slept a few hours before heading back to the airport at 4 this morning... Funny how I'm OK with it since it's a trip I look forward to! It's all about the attitude...
On that note I wish myself a nice flight and head for the boarding gate.

Happy New Year!!
I hope 2007 will treat all of you wonderfully! I look forward to a new year that will not mean moving and changing jobs four times... Though I hope to continue traveling, both with work and even more by vacationing - trips to both Norway and the US guaranteed.
Other than that I'd like to: read more books, see more movies, train the dog to become more obedient, do some painting, get a tan, work out a little more (my goal was every day but after 3 days my poor body was in shock so I had to give it some time off..), learn more Russian, start writing a book, organize my pictures on the computer and perhaps even print some and frame them, update the music on my Ipod, stop smoking (again..), learn how to cook at least one dish other than omelette, drink more wine (you can never drink too much wine), maybe learn how to like olives because it looks like a really nice thing to like, start throwing away ugly things instead of saving them for stupid occasions that never happen, organize my office, and update the blog a little more often.
That's it. I guess I have enough things to do in 2007 too then. Wish me luck!

The royal family has arrived

Well it's really just 5 members of my family, but it feels like it could have been the royal family with all the preparations and planning over the past few weeks. Getting 5 visitors is great, but when you've just moved into a house it requires some extra efforts to get everything ready in time... And Cliff has had some sort of pre-inlaws planning extravaganza so I had to tell him to remember it is NOT the royal family arriving. Anyway, we look forward to the company and showing off Manila and the Philippines. And best of all, come Wednesday we join them for 5 days in the paradise of Boracay. Now THAT will be nice!!
